Game On

The National Sports Museum includes a fully interactive gallery called Game On

Allowing the visitor to personally experience the thrill of participation, sports and activities featured within this environment include:

  • Cricket (try and run out the batsman)
  • Australian football (how do your handball skills match the professionals?)
  • Cycling (undertake the pursuit)
  • Soccer (beat the goalkeeper)
  • Athletics (take to the starter’s block)
  • Rugby (muscle up for the scrum).

Please note: The final stage of the National Sports Museum project is now underway.

The existing Game On gallery will close to the general public on Sunday January 5, 2009.

Following its expansion and relocation to the area adjacent to James Hird “Off the Bench”, it will reopen on Monday March 30, 2009 and include new Australian football and netball interactives, together with new multi media and graphic interpretations.  Old favourites including the cricket “run out”, soccer and cycling will return.

The current Game On location will be converted into a temporary exhibition space with our first exhibition, the touring League of Legends – 100 Years of Rugby League in Australia, scheduled to open in April, 2009.

In addition, our new 35-seat theatre will open in April 2009 and a range of film content is currently being developed.
